I would like to begin by saying thank you to my Board or Directors for all their dedicated hours to improving education in Nova Scotia for all families.

The past year was very challenging for families in Nova Scotia with many changes to education and moving forward how education will look.

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development will continue to work through the school year to ensure the changes taking effect will have as little disruption to students as possible.

Minister Casey and the Department are focused to ensure the changes over the next five years improve the education system in Nova Scotia. The Nova Scotia Action Plan on Education is expected to renew, rebuild, and refocus the system. The benefits will be felt by students and their families as well as teachers, support staff, and will effect university education and the business communities. The changes are a huge step!

The goal of NSFHSA is to work with our Education Partners and the families in Nova Scotia to improve the relationships within our schools and communities to ensure all children have access to the best possible public education.

In the past year NSFHSA has participated in committee work which will assist our Board Members to improve their ability to understand and create innovative ways of thinking to problem solve and grow. NSFHSA is here for you and the schools your children attend. The Board is made up of volunteers and as such they dedicate their time and expertise for you, the families of Nova Scotia.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the students, teachers, and families and community members a safe and wonderful and prosperous school year.

NSFHSA continues to assist schools around Nova Scotia to grow their Home and School groups as well as assist with implementation for those who do not have one. If you feel your school could utilize our guidance please feel free to contact us.

Thank you.
